NVIDIA has announced Isaac ROS 5.0, presenting the software as "a collection of GPU-accelerated packages built on ROS" for developers. According to the company, engineering teams require "new physical AI models and tools" to make progress on complex autonomous systems. These resources are intended to help programmers create platforms that operate outside of controlled setups.
The software builds upon existing open-source robotics infrastructure. Specifically, "The ROS open framework is a project from Open Robotics that helps humans build robots" across technical domains. Together, these tools are designed "To build and deploy sophisticated robotics applications that can perceive, reason and act in dynamic environments" as robotic tasks become more demanding.
