Urban centers continually accumulate extensive information streams across their administrative territories. According to NVIDIA, "Cities generate enormous amounts of data from cameras, sensors and operational systems" during regular daily activity. Despite this steady intake, municipal administrators find that "turning it into useful action, for planning, maintenance and public services, remains a challenge" across core departments.
New computational frameworks are being explored to address this systemic bottleneck in city operations. The report notes that "Physical and agentic AI offer new ways to close that gap" for municipal teams. These applications span "from digital twins for infrastructure planning to vision and service agents" intended to support local governmental functions.
