Powered by Amazon Web Services infrastructure, these systems process tracking and video data in real time to highlight complex tactical details on the field.
A central addition to the broadcast is the deep-learning model called Pocket Health. This algorithm continuously tracks the protection formation constructed by the offensive line around the quarterback, evaluating the structural integrity of the pocket. In real time, the system displays visual indicators on the screen along with a running calculation of the remaining milliseconds available before the quarterback must release the pass or face an impending sack.
Complementing this offensive analysis are optical classification models named Coverage ID and Defensive Vulnerability. These algorithms identify the setup of defensive backs and linebackers before the snap, automatically classifying the scheme as either man or zone coverage. Simultaneously, the software highlights areas on the gridiron where spatial openings emerge, pinpointing potential vulnerabilities that the offense could exploit.
For fans joining the broadcast midway through the contest, Amazon introduced an automated tool called Rapid Recap. This generative video feature tracks key plays from earlier in the game and compiles an edited, dynamically produced highlight reel within two minutes. Late-arriving viewers can review critical touchdowns, turnovers, and pivotal drives before rejoining the live telecast.
Through these enhancements to Prime Vision, Amazon is advancing the use of real-time data modeling in mainstream sports broadcasting.
